FALL, 2018: PLEIN AIR WORKSHOP ON BLOCK ISLAND
This was the schedule and description for the 2018 workshop:
Arrival: Sunday, September 9th
I will provide a main dish for a group dinner so you can meet one another and give logistics for the following morning. If you can bring something from the city to contribute to the meal (dessert, appetizer, etc.) that is appreciated. Many people came with a significant other for the week; he/she is welcome to attend.
Daily Fieldwork: Monday, September 10—Friday, September 15
Plein Air work in various locations on the Island from 10:00 am to @4:00 or 4:30. Daily field lunches from Persephone's Kitchen are provided and are included in the workshop cost. We generally break as a group to eat and look at one another’s work for a simultaneous critique/discussion to shape the afternoon’s work.
Saturday, September 16th
9:30 a.m to @2:00 p.m. at my rental house to make any final tweaks to the week’s work and then to mount it with archival materials I provide. Good news! Spring Street Gallery, a local member-run gallery, has confirmed that they will again host our one-day pop-up exhibit. It’s a lovely space and everyone enjoyed the reception and show as a culminating event, which was well-attended by locals and tourists. The gallery did publicity and was very welcoming.
Cost: $700
Cost includes dinner on Sunday and daily field lunches, and materials such as glassine to protect each day's work as well as exhibit hanging materials and refreshments for the reception.
Here are a few photos of the workshop in progress:
